Just want to show you folks one of the thing's I found on my annual. While I was inspecting the flap cables I gave a tug on them at the clevis, what I found is that I pulled almost half of the wire out of the clevis end. Now I don't know how old the cable is but being over 55 years old (the airplane that is) I will be changing other cables soon. So we must be vigilant on the care of our aircraft, It's our duty to preserve these aircraft for future owners alive and yet to be born.

I had the same problem on my last annual. Dont waste any time checking the rudder cables as there is a place in the tailcone which is very hard to see but that is where the cables rust first. I am going to replace all my cables as during my restoration.

Where is the best place to get cables??

During my annual it was discovered that the trim cable and the flap cable will have to be replaced. My A&P seems to be having trouble locating them...or he is just giving the the run around because he is not showing up very frequently. I would like to investigate price and delivery on my own.

Dear Frainiea,
I just received a complete set of 170 cables from McFarlane, they have in stock total kits or individual cables. They advertise two prices retail or list and they will take another 20% off if you mention you are an A&P, or that you know George Horn personally. Their web site is http://www.mcfarlane-aviation.com
