Does anyone have experience with Sentry Aircraft Cylinders of Fort Worth. Texas? The man's name is Dave and he sells a lot of new and used parts** He seems like a good guy and has good feedback but I thought I'd check him out a little more on this site. Thanks.

I don't know a "Dave" particularly, but I've purchased several cylinders and parts from Sentry, and the State of TX purchased from them as well. I was happy with the service and parts that were purchased directly from them in Ft.Worth.

Thanks George. When I talked to him he said he bought the place about 8 years ago. Is your experience within the last eight years or so?

The last time I purchased cylinders from Sentry was in 1993. (Wow! Time flies. And I sold that plane, a C-206 in '95.)

When I overhauled my O-300B in '98 or '99 I purchased 6 new ECI cylinders through Senty and did so after confiring w/ Sentry. I had two that were junk & 4 that they said needed welding, which they do, & then they would have been sent to Tulsa for rechroming, if there was enough metal left to do so. I elected to go ahead & go with new cylinders as the estimated cost for the new one, incl. new piston, rings, etc was only about $125 more than repairing the old one, assuming they Could be repaired. If Sentry welded them & the chrome shop rejected them then the welding work was lost. I have been happy with the ECI's. I am pretty sure Sentry still does all the repair/welding work for El Reno's cylinders.
