Hi ... question. I want to fabricate a new instrument panel. The old one looks to be about .150 thick ... 2024T3 Alclad can be had from Spruce .160 in thick ... Airparts and Spruce both also have it in .125 in thick as well. I think that there is probably a structural consideration involved ... any suggestions? Thanks ... R/Lee (N1967C)

The original on my 1955 B-model was 0.125. That's what I used to fabricate a new one.

Good ... Airparts told me that .125 was common ... mine may be thicker due to paint buildup. Thanks ... R/Lee

What year is your 170?
I have a brand spanking new panel fresh out of the waterjet that I might not be using after all.

It is a 1954 B ... N1967C serial #26112. Details on your panel? I am interested if it will fit. R/Lee

Mine is for a 1952 or prior.
Oh well. Won't fit.

A person on this forum had them cut and I got in on it.
I'll try to dig up the thread as we had drawings and everything.
Once you have the drawings, there are lots of places online that you can contract out to cut it.
EDIT: the drawings I was thinking about are only for the '52 prior panels. I don't know of a set for the '53 and later panels.
