I've got the ECI NiCad cylinders on a Connie O300C. I flew to Kansas from New Hampshire a few weeks ago and had 2 exhaust valves stick open after the plane had sat for a few days. Found an old A/P that spent an hour teaching me how to take care of it via the rope trick. He did one with me watching & then watched me do the other one. It was a fun time for me. Just curious as where would be a good place to get an exhaust valve reamer? I forgot to ask him where he got his but I imagine he has had it since WW II. I learned so much in that hour and a half.

any machinist supply store. Just take your time reaming it out -pull vale out of the spark oplug hole and steel wool it clean also.

Likely the valves stuck when you shut down the engine and it cooled. Sitting a few days had nothing to do with it. It was just a few days till you discovered they had stuck.

Yes, it took cooling down for them to stick. I'm a little nervous about using steel wool to clean the stems. Wouldn't something like scotch brite work better? Just thinking of what steel wool would do to the stem.

Steel wool will not touch those stems. They are much to hard. I use a razor blade and scotch brite.

Allow your engine to idle for a minute or two around 800 rpm before shutting down to allow the valves/guides to equalize and you will likely avoid this problem.
