I wanted to post the holiday break -sneak away from the family- project that I did. Obviously, no basis for approval (and don't want to get into that discussion here) and not my own idea but modeled after these units: https://fly-lite.com/. After doing it myself, I think that the before mentioned product is probably worth the value. I have no connection to the company but I do think one of the company owners is a 170 owner.

Early 1960’s Cessna 172 aircraft had an optional light installed in/on the backside of the inspection-cover just forward of the flap bell-crank area. It consists of a simple rectangular hole cut in the center of the inspection-cover, with a plastic lens installed on the backside of the cover. A common GE87 incandescent lamp and socket was wired to the cabin overhead switch/light. (An LED lamp would also work using much less power and generating less heat.)
This is a very easy and convenient “minor modification” requiring only a logbook entry, IMO. (If you don’t feel sufficiently talented, you can search the junkyards for those covers/lamps and install them.
