I got the cable tensiometer in the photo below from my Dad’s tools when he passed away. I’ve tried to use it several times but the indicator needle fails to reset after a reading. According to an instruction sheet in the box, the little golf club-shaped lever above the dial is to be turned toward the dial after taking a reading to lock the needle in the event the dial can’t be viewed while taking the measurement. If there’s anyone out there familiar with this particular model, am I missing something or does it need to be repaired? Does anyone know of a shop or lab who might still work on it? I have no idea how old it might be.

They still sell those new! Looks like $700-800, depending on the sub-model of T5.

I was about to link the same website Dave did. By the grammar in that manual it appears the tensiometer is no longer manufactured in the States. Here's an example: "For avoid damage on common use, the operator shall be use the Wrist Band adjustable ... ." I've got a T5 and it sounds like you're using it as designed Miles. Might be worth taking a look inside as described in Section V if you can locate a hand jack pointer remover.

Thanks for the info. I think I’ll try to find a shop that can repair and calibrate it. The calibration with it is from 1995.
