Brake Pedal Spring

My left brake pedal has a spring to retract it back to neutral, but my right pedal does not.

Is the spring broken or does it not exist in the first place?

It is broken. Both pedals have a spring. The spring does not really return the pedal to neutral but keeps tension on the cable. A spring on each more or less balances each other out, another reason the pedals won't really center with 2 good springs.

You should obtain an Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC) for your airplane if you’re going to work on it. It’s simply a MUST HAVE.

I downloaded the Cessna 170 parts catalog (255 pages long). It's from 1956. This the right one?

If you have a B-model...Yes.
A glance at the pages 101 and 101A would have answered your question on rudder return springs.

The Rudder Return Springs part #s are 0310196-3 right and 0310196-4 left respectively from the 170 catalog. However, can't find em on Aircraft Spruce Canada.

Any other reputable sites which ship to Canada?

Although Spruce sells some common Cessna parts, they are not a source for most factory parts.

I Suggest you seek them from a Cessna distributor. They used to be some of the most reasonably priced parts Cessna sold, but now they are about $32-$43 each: https://www.cessnaparts.com/?s1=0310196 ... arch+Parts

Re: Rudder return springs
I have a 48 170 model
My parts catalog on page 95 shows the springs, but does not call out the part numbers.
Are the part numbers referenced above good for my model (0310196-3/4), or are they different?
Thanks
