Aileron bellcrank bolts

Gentlemen,

I'm finishing up replacing all the control cables, pulleys, turnbuckles, etc. and I'm a bit confused at the aileron bellcranks

The '48 IPC shows AN3 bolts but the fittings are all drilled 1/4 inch (AN4 holes). There is no mention in the IPC of bushings, but I have found bushings on most (but not all) of the bolts I'm removing.

The fitting in the photo has a bushing jammed into it, but the replacement cable has no such bushing.

Are bushings typical on these bolts or are the AN3 bolts supposed to wallow around in 1/4 inch holes?

Thanks,

Gareth.

Gareth

There are spacer bushings in the clevis assemblies that the AN3 bolts pass through. I lubricated them as I assembled.

Regards

Kevin

Thanks Kevin,

It would be nice if they had included such inconsequential details in the IPC!

Take at look at IPC Figure 6, Items 40, 41, and 42 (bushings).

Never would have guessed! :D

The bushings appear to be part of the bell crank/airframe rather than the rigging, but the nuts and bolts are part of the rigging.
