1000 Micron Strainer

I like to do my own oil changes. In the past, I have taped a piece of fine mesh nylon screen to my oil bucket and drained it all through that in case any bigger pieces fell out. I would also drag a magnet around bottom of the bucket to pick up anything else that made it through he screen. In response to the Continental CSB-07-01A I decided to “up” my game a little. ArborFab and Urban Diesel both sell quality 1000 micron strainers but the prices are a little outrageous (especially after paying for shipping).

Did a few internet searches and found a possible suitable alternative...there are several 1000 micron honey strainers available on Amazon (and other sellers) that are made of stainless steel and fit a 5 gallon bucket by way of adjustable arms. It’s not as purpose-built as the Arbor one but it certainly does the job and cost less than $20. If I was getting one for a shop, I would probably buy the purpose built strainer but for my hangar the honey strainer is perfect.

Just wanted to mention it in case anyone else enjoys saving money as much as I do. :D
