Glad I bought my 170 five years ago. At current prices even my ragwing would be hard to justify. My plan to sell it on and "upgrade" to a B model has gone out the window and over the horizon.

Kudos to Jason McDowell for an excellent overview of the Cessna 170 …and in particular…for pointing out the Type Club is “the International Cessna 170 Association”..!!!
I’m tired of seeing 170s written up in various magazine articles…some of them even featuring airplanes of our own Members….who totally FAIL to mention our Association as THE TYPE CLUB for this airplane.

I only wish Jason had provided a LINK and CONTACT INFO for the Assoc’n. Otherwise, a Very Good Article!

Yeah, that was pretty well written for a quick pass.

I love my airplane and am glad I got it. On days with strong crosswinds it would nice to have a 172, but most days would be bored with one. Like Brian, I couldn’t afford one at today’s prices.

Jason is a member here and a new-ish 170 owner. I had the privilege of flying his airplane to the midwest from Arlington, WA for him.

The sunset picture at the top of the article is my 170, with myself and Jason flying it.

Solid article regarding the 170 for sure.
