where to find interior foam insulation
I was thinking to strip the interior this winter and prime it. Looking for members who did this, can't decide on paint type/color and what foam insulation to use instead of the stock vinyl panels.

Selkirk makes pre-cut soundproof kits in 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch thickness available for Cessna 170, 172, 175, 180, 182, 185, 206 and 207 aircraft.
Pretty sure Spruce sells the bulk pieces.

Re: where to find interior foam insulation
You may be disappointed in the actual amount (or lack thereof) of sound “proofing” from foam insulation versus the weight penalty. The majority of noise in a 170 is wind and engine noise from poorly-fitting door-seals. Seal those doors and you’ve addressed 75% of the noise.

Re: where to find interior foam insulation
I did my interior walls (after cleaning, priming and epoxy painting) with 1/4 closed cell black foam that has adhesive backing. I think I got it from Spruce or Wag Aero. I did NOT install any cosmetic plastic trim over it. It reduced 'oil caning, noise and gretly helped reduce interior temps in extreme heat or cold.

I had the same experience. The foam did little for noise reduction but did provide really good even heat comfort through out the cabin.JohnNielsen wrote:I did my interior walls (after cleaning, priming and epoxy painting) with 1/4 closed cell black foam that has adhesive backing.
