FAA VARMA program

Post by ghostflyer »

As no one has mentioned it so far but it’s important development . The FAA has introduced a VARMA Article which covers our aircraft . VARMA means “Vintage Aircraft Replacement and Modification Article . This applies to aircraft less than 12,500 lbs and made before 1980. Plus other conditions which are common sense . This is important for owners where your aircraft is not fully supported by the factory . As we all know Cessna back in the 1950,s and beyond often used parts from the commercial side of vehicle manufacture . This includes relays, switches , paint , door handles , and most NON STRUCTURAL parts. Structural parts must sourced from the approved sources [factory,PMA etc] .
My advice is read the FAA Article as it will help you. All the necessary log book entries have to be completed .
