Since in the history of the 170 Association there has never been a convention held in September, I thought I was safe booking an Inside Passage Cruise to Alaska that month. The ship gets back to Seattle on the 14th, so we may make the last day of the convention.

Due to us guys coming from the other side of the earth our seasons are very different. It would be appreciated if the hosts of future conventions could indicate what weather to expect when we arrive at that time of year. Weather can be a changing environment at convention sites due to altitude and mountain influence on winds. A local input about a month before hand and what to expect would be greatly appreciated . We googled the weather [what to expect] at both the Cody and Vermont conventions and we were told it was going to be extremely cold . It ended up a T shirt and shorts situation .

I'm afraid in many, if not most cases, anything the host puts out there is going to be a best-guess hunch. Here in Texas, the weather forecasts are likely to be found in the funny pages

We use
https://www.accuweather.com/ and/or
https://weather.com/. Usually their daily forecasts start to approximate reality when less than 10 days out. That's where I'd go for best guess on what to expect.

Ghostflyer is travelling from “Down Under”…and likely wants to simply know what “seasonal” conditions to expect.
The link I posted earlier is likely the most informational and “early best guess” as to the weather to be expected:

Hello all!
Long story short …my annual didn’t go as planned and I’m not going to make it to the fly in this year. I heard the primary hotel was booked, so I wanted to offer my room to the group before I just canceled it on the website. My reservation dates are from the 12th-15th. If anyone is interested please let me know.

Mike, you don’t have to bring your airplane to be welcome at a 170 Convention! Due to a scheduling conflict, we’re only going to be there the last day and a half, and if the weather is good we’ll fly, if not we’ll drive.

Thx! I'm still going to give it my best shot. But can't get off work till the 13th. So, between that and no mags back yet. I didn't want to eat the hotel. Still going to try and come down. Worst case I pitch a tent under the wing!
