It’s fall, watch out for migratory birds

Locally, the days are starting to give a good imitation of early fall.

That means migrating birds.

The ones I saw on downwind were at the far end of the runway so I had ample opportunity to touch down and slow down before I got to the cranes on the runway.

A larger screen helps and turn up the sound a bit. Give the link a bit of time to load.

Pete, nice video.

We have a few grass airfields here in Northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin that have become summer residence for cranes.

Ghostflyer…believe it or not, the whole thing was photographed by a friend using his new but by no means newest available iPhone. The sound was the biggest surprise.

We have sandhill cranes here at 45G, but (so far) they seem to stay out of the way of airplanes.
