Hello everyone,

After decades of dreaming, I finally bought my first airplane. A 1952 170B with the ugliest paint job I’ve ever seen. I flew it for a week and then dropped it off at the paint shop to have it stripped. The paint shop found a problem with the lower rudder hinge bracket. I’m going to look at it today and get some photos.

I would like to get recommendations for A&Ps in the Seattle area who would be available to go to Paine Field KPAE to do the repair.

Welcome to the association, good call on the paint. Removing the controls, not a bad idea as a starting point on finding out exactly what you have.
Two issues with the lower hinge point, is wear of the bronze bushing, along with alignment between the fuselage and vertical fin which make up the rudder hinge axis. Good luck with her.

Try contacting the folks at The Landing Gear Works to see if they might recommend someone. Congrats.
