During an inspection I found the Clovis pin sheared. I cannot find a part number in the IPC. Any help would be appreciated.

Rather than a clevis pin, it's a rivet inside of a bushing that you see sheared. The latch bushing is not illustrated but is listed in fig. 68-64 as p/n 0510177. Preferred Air Parts has the bushings in stock but there are better ways to fix this issue. See this thread.

There is a wide-spread and FALSE belief that the manual flaps (as opposed to later electric flap system) is much more dependable and “never fails”>


I’m just reminding folks of the Fatal Accident which occurred at Boeing Field I reported on several years ago.

These flap-deployment-handles have failure possibilities which can be insidious. IMAGINE that you are on final approach and need to Go-Around…. but, due to the flap handle pivot-point rivet fails…or the push-button-Latch fails … That “Go-Around” might not be possible with full flaps deployed.

This is what killed the Cessna occupants at Boeing Field.

So PAY ATTENTION to your flap handle health. Check for loose or “wobbling” rivets and “sticky” push-buttons and operating rods.
