Coleman Fly-In, (KCOM), Saturday, January 3, 2026

Post by Karl Towle »

This has been posted in our last Fly-Paper and Quarterly News. I'm re-posting here, hoping to reach as many as possible:

How about a new destination for January? Let's meet at Coleman Airport, KCOM, on 3 January 2026.

The Owl Drugstore has a quaint kitchen and restaurant section. Real old time working soda fountain. The Owl is confirmed to be open that day until 1330. As usual we should be tied down (I was advised by the manager to bring my own tie down straps) before 1100.

I will arrange a car for transport to the Owl for lunch.

Note: Other Coleman restaurants are available. Cattle Drive, etc. There is BBQ in town.

Long's Aircraft Services (325) 625-5495 serve as the airport manager. https://www.cityofcolemantx.us/airport/index.html

Eleven of our members gathered at Coleman for lunch at Owl Drug. This is a quaint restaurant, with somewhat limited and scattered seating, so for a short time it looked like we might have to choose a different restaurant. But, fortunately a table cleared, and we were all able to find a seat. The service was courteous, and the food tasty. A great time was had by all. Thanks also to those who showed up with vehicles and shuttled us the few miles from airport to lunch and back.

We encourage everyone out there to seize and opportunity to participate in our Texas fly-ins! Y'all come on out now, hear.
