I would like ideas on freeing a stuck gas cap. This is the original unvented cap. Somehow the clip/chain is apparently in a position that has jammed the cap. It turns to loosen, but not far enough to release. There is a small chance that a piece of safety wire could be inserted under the cap to hook the clip/chain to try to pull it and free the jam, but that is a long shot.

John, I sent you a response to your email. I didn't address the clip and chain in that email, but you might try bringing the cap back to the full tight position and rapping it repeatedly in an effort to dislodge the chain from the filler neck. You might be able to get it to hang or "dangle" properly again.
