I am trying to find out what size the axle bolts are for specific serial numbers.

I need to know what sizes are for a 170, what are the sizes for the serial numbers for the 170, 170A and 170B.

For the 120 and 140 there are 4 different part numbers for the gear legs. The gear that I have on mine has all 4 holes that are 1/4" s/n 12032. I need the size for the s/n 13400 to 14306 and 14306 & up. Also the sizes for the 140A.

There seems to be a cutoff point in the 170A's that they started with a different gear leg. Im not sure when that is and dont have access to a parts catalog either.

Im going to need all this goofy info for the FAA for the PMA on the mounting plates. I realize on ours that if someone has changed gear legs then the info will not be correct, but they dont need to know that at this point.

All 170's had 5/16" holes for their upper axle attach's (straight 170's used AN-5-22A and A-models used AN-5-23A bolts).
However, beginning with 170A, serial number 19219, the lower holes where changed to 3/8" to accept AN-6-23A bolts in lieu of the prior serial numbers useage of AN-5-22A bolts in 5/16" holes (although AN-5-23A bolts were used for straight 170s in the lower position).
All 170 B models used the same upper bolts (AN-5-23A) but used a slightly longer lower bolt, the AN-6-24A in a 3/8" hole.

NOTE: NAS bolts were specified alternate parts on the B-model (and presumeably approved on earlier aircraft.) The upper bolt was NAS145-41 (along with a NAS143-5C washer) and the lower bolts were NAS146-42.
Also note: The NAS143-5C washer is a countersunk washer and has been superceded by hdw mfr's to the MS20002C5 series.

TRIVIA: ALL the nuts specified for the B models axle bolts were specified to be "C" types. (Typically AN365-524C or AN365-624C and NAS365-524C or NAS365-624C)
TRIVIA-TRIVIA: a typo-error occurred and NAS365-624C was overlooked for the lower NAS bolt when used and the AN365-624C series nut was specified in error.

Now, wasn't that simple?
