Weatherhead Fuel Valve Education

I'm a Cessna 140 driver looking for info on fuel selector valves. Noticed some discussion in your archives about the subject. Our old Imperial Valves (108HD's I think) are sometimes a nusiance and alot of us notice the Weatherhead 6749 3 position valve would be a drop in replacement (with very minor valve stem mods). Do you folks have a Left-Right-Off selector in your earlier models and if so what valve do you have? Any 337's/field approvals for any of the Weatherhead Valve models? (the newer ones in Aircraft Spruce with the Delrin seats, 3 or 4 position models).
Just doing some homework. It amazes me that it is so difficult to get things nice and tidy with the FAA on this issue and we have to pay $400+ for an old brass valve from Cessna that leaks and has to be serviced every 1-2years or so. Can't even get the old style valve packing anymore.
Any thoughts, knowledge, words of wisdom is appreciated. Thanks in advance for any efforts.
