flaps on 48/ 170
this years annual finds my flap hinges to show some wear, part of one hinge pin has broke, about 1'' on right wing inboard part of hinge. this is on a 1948 170,cloth wing. has anyone experienced this sort of problem and what is fix,,,,,,what about fowler style on my 170 ,,,just a thought
Hinge material can be purchased and cut to length. Have not seen a rag wing's hinge setup, but on the A model it is very simple. It was my inboard hinge also. You can pay around $90 for a hinge made for Cessna, or you can buy about 4 feet of it from Spruce for less than $20 if memory is working. You will have to drill the holes, no biggie - use your existing hinge for a guide, and cut to length. You may want to buy new fasteners depending on condition.
