I learned today that any field approval signed off before 1955 (actually late 1954) is now considered "approved data" and therefore as good as an stc for installation of identical modifications, since before that time, all field approvals went through the ACO prior to approval.
George, you heard of this one? Could be interesting.
I have a sling seat that anyone is welcome to the paper on, if they want it, and it was signed off before that date.

Under the circumstances listed above, it would be nice if any member had a 337 dated before the time indicated posted it some where on a club site. Perhaps a thread about pre 1955 forms 337.
Of course that was when these airplanes were pretty new and perhaps the mods were few and far between. I have a 52 and a 55 and there are no mods back that far on mine.

This was put out at an A&P-IA seminar at BFI last saturday. It comes from the fact that prior to 1955 all 337s were signed off by a DAMI, they were allowed to approve data.
any data that they approved is still good.
BUT it must be for the same thing on the same make and model.
most of the stuff in 43,13.1b is that data.
William O'Brien wrote the 43,13.1b and is now updating the 43,13.2b, inputs are sought.
