George and crew. I have the IPS and spruce catolog however I an unsure which fitting I will needto connect line to brake caliper. Original illus part cat describes goodyear brakes but i have the Clevland type which I think alot of members are now using. The question is I believe an AN fitting, both ends male type, is what i need with pipe thread going into caliper and the other end also threaded to accept the flex hose but which one?? Spruce has one AN823 which looks right but again which size. This will be the last bone headed question without a fer real part number. Happy holidays and I will look forward to any comments you all may have Gary

Some brake lines are 1/4 in. tubing using a no.4 flare fitting and some lines are 3/16 in. and take a no.3 flare. Your brake hoses may be either #3 or #4 size and will require a like sized flare fitting to make a connection. The tubing size will also have to have a like sized fitting.
For example, if you have 1/4 in. tubing to connect to a #3 hose, you will have to use a 4 by 3 AN 919 reducer fitting. If you have a 1/4 in. tube and a #4 hose, you will need a #4 union.
The Cleveland brake caliper is tapped fot 1/8 in. pipe. It will require a 1/8 in. pipe thread to #3 or #4 flare AN816 nipple, depending on the hose size.

Yes, the AN823-4D will likely be what you need, connected to a 1/4" flexible line equipped with a 1/4" female flare fitting such as an Aeroquip 491-4.

Gentlemen you are princes thats eexactly what I need. The bigger question is what the heck are we doing having this crazy discussion on xmas eve. Minus 25 degrees and snowing here in Edmonton best for the holidays, hopefully it will be a year before I torture you with another silly question. Off topic I have recieved STC from Ron with details to install the D engine also very informative Cheers G

I used a 45 Deg. elbow, made for a cleaner install, spruce also sells them although they cost more then the straight ones.

The AN823 is a 45-degree elbow. The only problem with it is that it might interfere with removal of one of the upper screws of the wheel fairings, if you have them. (Not a big deal really, but just thought I'd mention it, so you can examine that possibility and work around it by adjusting the angle of the flex hose, or by simply leaving that screw out or using an AN3 bolt/washer in lieu of a screw.)
