Late model door latches

Have any of you guys actually installed the late model rotary door catches? How big a chore is it? Do you have to take the skin off the door or can it be done through the hole in the inner part of the door? I know some of you have the latches installed but I want to hear from someone who has actually done the deed. Thanks Paul Wood
