Door seals

I know that tight fitting doors with good seals are hard to find, but I am looking around for door seals for my recent purchase to try to tighten things up a bit and quiet down the noise level. The existing seals are kinda "L" shaped with the end pinched under a narrow metal strip that seems to be in pretty poor condition.
Surely there must be a better way. Has anyone come across a good solution that works well? I really don't know where to go from here. I've looked in several catalogs at several different style seals, but nothing seems to look right. For all I know, the ones in the plane now could have come out of the J.C. Whitneys catalog! HELP!

Hi Niel,
Self adhesive foam rubber weather stripping works great - but it is not a certified part, it only cost a couple of dollars, and you only have to go to Lowes or Home Depot. The self adhesive will not last but a few months, if you go this rout, use some aviation adhesive to give it a long lasting bond. It comes in different widths and thicknesses which allows you to fit your application perfectly.

An excellent door-seal is PN 05-00010 $62.95/25 ft-roll, and also PN 05-00020 $49.95/25 ft-roll, from Aircraft Spruce. 877/477-7823.
These are hollow-tube closed-cell foam with a flat molded on one side, which can be wrapped inside the corner of the door-edge and glued with 3M-1300L. The hollow profile more easily fills the gap, yet allows the door to close upon it without stressing the door-frame like solid foam-rubber seals.

Has anybody tried the P-strip from aircraft spruce pg 126 pn 05-01200. It looks similar in design to the door seals mention before but at a descent price.

If you will go to the cessna120-140.org site and go to the market place and then go to the FOR SALE section and the first item is Original Door Seals..20 feet of seal for $25. or if you prefer you can pay $1.25 per foot. You can even look at pictures of the installation..

I recently, several months, ago replaced all my door seals with solid 1/4 roumd. Stopped the breeze but started springing hinges. Several days ago looked at a new cessna and liked the hollow 1/4 round, so asked the local dealer about ordering some. .81 cents a foot 12 foot strip (enough for one door). Easy to work with and around the metal strip as its very pliable. He actually only charged .61 c per foot. Works like a charm. Use 3m 8061 with lacquer thinner (toluene) as activator. Cessna PN R581573.
