Thanks for the update and please keep us informed. I will be undergoing overhaul starting in April so your experiences getting parts are very relevant (at least to me). I am sorry to hear of the slow rolling you have been getting on your hardware kits. Hope Continental isn't dropping the ball on these engines......May I ask how much your new cam cost?

Been wrestling hard with the doing the Del-Air 180 hp conversion. The Lyc O-360 has such wonderful support from no less than 3 suppliers of parts and complete engines. Unlike the C-145/O-300 these engines will be supported until the end of time and it is tempting to step up. But $50K........... 8O

Bruce,

I just did an overhaul on a 0-200 and got everything from ECI and Superior. I couldn’t be happier with both of them. All of my parts showed up quickly and all of the parts I sent in for inspection were returned promptly. I will definitely use them both again for me 0-300.

Miles

I'm about to order parts for my new-to-me C-85 for my Cub.

Why did you choose Premium Aircraft Parts? Price? Would you do it again with the slow delivery?

I was about to give them a call.

Just my three cents
I also ordered parts from Premium. Yes the price is good on some parts.I ordered for an 0-300 and two other type engines for overhaul. It took weeks to get the parts, some came from different places. Some did not have the 8130 and I had to call where the part came from to get it. It is VERY hard to get Premium on the phone.Still waiting for parts that have been double charged for the same part since it has taken two months to get. When I get the last of my parts that have been paid for I will NEVER use them again. The cost saving in parts has cost way more in time headache and bs. I am not the type to talk smack about anyone or thing but this is no way to run a business, and I would hate to see anyone else go through what I have.

Airpower is a good co. to deal with. Prices are good and some even better than Premium.I found a few good companies, ones that premium used because the parts came from them that I ordered through Premium.

Great stuff, Miles! It'll be fun as well as educational to watch the process.

Miles,
Great pictures, I hope there will be more. It is always good to be at that part of a project where you feel like you are moving forward instead of backward (taking things apart).

Been following your posts Miles and its good to hear that the parts are finally coming in. Hope that case paint gets there by the time you need it. Good luck with the assembly and keep us up-to-date on your progress.

Miles I did the same thing regarding the front seal and silk thread when i rebuilt my c145 last year.

I have to tell you painting those cylinders is a pain in the butt. You just can't get the paint in between those fins as thin as the gap is.

If yours are already painted, and since their new they are, leave them alone.
