Bracket ware

Post by Ray Brown »

Where the tailwheel spring attaches to the rudder is begining to ware,
It seems to me years ago I read something in the fly paper that said you could use an eye bolt through the hole and attach the spring to it.
Any information on this would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

The Scott 3200 installation drawing I-168 shows a pair of AN42-6 eye bolts (mounted eye down) replacing the regular bolts at the rudder cable attach on the rudder bellcrank. The steering chain springs then attach to the eye bolt.
I have seen very few 170's configured like this. Most, like mine, seem to have a pair of tabs riveted to the bellcrank to which the steering springs attach.

I did the AN42-6 (I guess ) this spring and it was quick, easy, cheap (had them), works great and best of all easy to replace.
