Max hp at best rate of climb sure would be nice here in Montana. And then cruise..... Are there any ground or in-flight adjustable props currently in production or acceptable for the C145 powered C170? I doubt an O-360 puts out more than 145 hp at take off with a fixed pitch combination prop and look at the increased T/O performance.

The Aeromatic prop is approved on the TCDS for 170's. I saw one that looked factory new on a Cuilver Cadet last weekend, it was attached to either a Continental or Franklin 4 banger.
Tom Downey posted a website (either here or on the old yahoo club site) for an outfit that's supposed to start making them again. Univair used to handle them,I think. I understand there's an AD on them with regards to securing the wooden blades into the hub with lag screws--either the lag screws rust out or the wood rots out, either way it's a real bummer when it throws a blade!
They sound great, but I've heard that they weren't all they were cracked up to be with regards to function & performance. Another good idea that didn't quite work out I guess.

I have one which I have just had serviced. Hoping to try it out some time this fall on my 170B with 0300A engine.
