Not being the sharpest knife in the drawer, I will appeal to all the other wizards out there for some help on troubleshooting my genartor woes.

While flying the other day, the ammeter suddenly went to almost a +15 AMP indication. Operating were the strobe,one COM radio and transponder. Shutting the stobes off made no difference, and when I was clear of airspace requirements, I turned off everything else, yielding no difference. This continued until we landed at out destination about 15 minutes away.

Any help appreciated.

Some basic questions to start with:
Did the indication zero out when you shut down?
If your shunt is wired correctly it only indicates the amount of current going to or from the battery instead of a load meter.
If so, then it looks as if you are sending a charge to the battery.
You could have a battery that has a cell that has shorted out. Go out to the hangar and see it the battery is still holding a charge, a battery with a cell that has gone bad will self discharge in a short time frame. If the battery is low you have found your problem. To confirm this you can pull the battery and take it to somewhere like AutoZone and have it checked on a load tester.
