Does anyone know if the push-pull controls such as the carb heat, mixture, cabin heat can be rebuilt with new spiral outer housing and solid wire? I don't want to lose the original knobs but the cables are getting pretty well worn out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Univair and Spruce both handle near-identical replacement controls. Check out the A-730 and A-740 controls. The knobs may be painted to match original colors with Dupont Imron or other poly paint. (I especially like the A-740 ratchet action cables. They stay put even in vibration. Makes good controls for mixture, cabin air, cabin heat, etc. )

Good heavens, George!
How can you possibly consider replacing a Cessna part numbered control cable unit with a generic bowden control without parts traceability paperwork?
Oh wait. I guess an invoice from Spruce should suffice.

Spruce will quite happily provide traceablitiy if you simply request it. (Although I agree that the source alone is good enough for most... Certainly beats Car Quest.)
