I"m getting ready to do the finger tailwheel bracket upgrade to my A model. Has anyone done this recently or at all? I'm doing it for two reasons, better strength and to fix a not so well done repair. I'm worried that once I get in to the fuselage with the tail feathers off, I'm going to need some new metal. last bulkead will probably need replaced and the stringers that run along the side of the fuse back there will almost certainly need replaced. Do we get stock aluminum to replace or will I have to give p/n's to Cessna and pay out the nose for those types of things?

By the way, I used George's recommendation and went to Air Repair for all of the parts (minus hardware) for a rough total of $500, even got the tailwheel tie-down bolt. I was very pleased with their service and would recommend them to anyone looking for parts for this procedure.

Not quite sure what your asking. If you need to replace aluminum sheet then it's just stock aluminum.

If there are parts you need that you can manufacture from the same material which might be sheet aluminum then you can manufacture your own parts and certify their airworthiness.

If you can't manufacture them yourself you can contract someone to make the part for you and you can then certify it.

Or you can buy a serviceable old part or a new part made by a company who made the part under PMA or you can get it from Cessna.

Besides used or new old stock, Cessna might be your only alternative.

I saw you are doing the T/W bracket.I am across the river from you at Smith Point.VA99,Federhart/Ophelia.I have just done this bracket.Just have to shoot rivets.I replaced the bottom skin and the 4 stringers. The sheetmetal I fabbed from .032 2024-T3.The angle for the stringers I purchased from a supply house that furnishes Cessna. These are 2024-T351 with a small inside radius. Before you start you should fly over and look it over.Everything is apart and you can get a good idea of whats in store. If interested PM me for a phone #.
