Rear Seat Belts

Greetings to the Association! I'm a long time "lurker", new member and first time poster.

I've had the 170A almost a month now and I am enjoying every minute of it. I'm about ready to put the family in it but, I need to do something with the rear seatbelt. Notice that is not plural...

It's a pretty original old bird and the rear seat belt is one big belt and it's not metal to metal for the buckle. I've looked at the "manual" and it looks like there might be a mounting point in the center for two individual replacement belts. I have not messed with the rear seat yet. Has anyone installed rear belts? What length did you purchase? Any tips?

I hope I am not duplicating another post. I searched the forums and only came up with rear seat replacement.

Regards,
Tim (TJT)

Tim, the last time I saw a set up like that was in a cherokee 140 back in 1978. There should be attach fittings at the aft center seat frame, you can get seat belts at any aviation part supplier, eg aircraft spruce, wag aero, wicks and the such. All you would need is a standard set, nothing fancy and attachment hardware for the inboard belt attachment. I'm sure someone here in the forums can give you the length of the hardware, I don't remember off hand. Oh and make sure the seatbelts confom to tso standards for seatbelts for aircraft use.
