I have a 172 A model nose bowl. I do not have the part number . I was told but do not know that it just screws right on. No serious modification required. Can anyone else confirm this?

My mistake from the keyboard. My 170B is a 53. Sorry for the confusion.
I have now changed my signature to relect reality.

Well I am totally confused. I have a 1955 B model and I need to replace the nose bowl. Does anyone know where I can find one. Mine appears to be riveted on but doesn't look to be a big job to change.

I checked with my mechanic today who works on a lot of 170s. He says that he is certain that you want a nosebowl from a 1959 model 172. Its more of a 180 style but the real advantage is that its from heavier guage material and much more resistant to stress cracks.

The installation is not just a bolt on operation but its well within the skill level of a good sheet metal mechanic and well worth the time and effort.

A friend of mine is looking for a nose bowl from a 59 or 60, 172, or he might take a complete cowling. Another friend is looking for a horizontal for a 170B and the bulkhead just forward of the horizontal ( Aft section Sta. 205.812 ) Cordova Alaska
