Nose bowl and cowl

After Stripping the several (4) previous paint jobs off the airplane, it appears that the cowl is kinda in rough shape. We want to take a shot bag and hammer to it but we are unsure of the material that Cessna made the cowls out of, we would like to anneal the reworked areas, but cannot do so if we cant identify the material. Sooo... anybody know???
Let's see, first the white came off, then the dark blue, then the light blue and then red over a nice thick layer of high build grey primer "MINTY"
