Engine name plate?

I have a engine name plate that has only the embossed numbers left. I thought that I would go ahead and get a new one. I received FSDO approval at which time I contacted Continential. for a new plate they request $100.00 Yes!!!!! One hundered. Any comments?

Are you referring to the data plate on your Continental? When I overhauled mine in 1999 I got a new one from Continental for $12-$15 as I recall (some of the paint on it is coming off after 500 hrs).

Don't be so hasty to replace that dataplate. Many original military dataplates had only model and/or serial number info on them. Your original dataplate is of more interest, and of more "originality" than a non-original replacement with all the commercial "ink" applied. I'd leave it alone, if it were mine.
