Sheet Metal and Paint

Hello

I'm looking for a good sheetmetal and paint facility that has fair prices for quality work. I've been shopping around the Northwest and the prices here are outrageous. I've decided it would be less expensive to fly the aircraft out of my area, have the work done, and then fly it back.

I'm looking for recommendations and someone who might look in on the project occasionally while the work is being done. I would pay for the time spent as my onsite representative.

I'm looking to have the cowl rebuilt, the elevators and rudder reskinned, and the ailerons and flaps as necessary (perhaps the bubble trailing edges for the flaps). The paint will require disassembly, stripping, repair as necessary for some minor hail damage and other miscellaneous blemishes, new glass all around, and all the proper techniques to achieve and outstanding paint job.

If you are interested or know of someone or where to have this work done, please let me know. I know we have many members who are well qualified, and a few who may have the time and inclination.

Regards to all

Dave

On the paint and aluminium repair, give Jason Gerard a call at 206 930 2332. He just started his own shop in Monroe Wash. at the airport. He does great work on planes and has been working on all types for along time. He is very good on Rag and Tube airplanes as well. Nice guy and a good job for a fair price.

Steffan Schomp worked on my flaps and rudder and one wheel pant. He does very good work and is reasonably priced.

Remember, flying the aircraft elsewhere and back is money that is NOT spent on repairs. And any warranty will require taking the aircraft back to the shop. And dealing with their local laws...not yours. And you can drop in unexpectedly to check on it and motivate them to get back to work on YOURS.

A close shop, even tho' a little higher priced, can be a better deal in the long run.
