Under the pilots side panel, top trim plate (part number & name at home in the book) are two small tabs used for mounting screws one on either side of the ashtray. The forward tab is riveted into the side of the plane through the lower windshield trim piece (actual part name and # also at home in the book). I removed that tab and made a wider one that has two 10-32 nut plates on top that are the exact dimensions of the diamand shaped RAM mounting holes (photo # 1040559). It was riveted in place picking up two of the same original holes in the lower windshield trim piece. I cut a small relief in the plate to allow space for an interior plates rivet back (notice the notch in the lower portion of the plate. This bracket now added enough support to hold the weight of the GPS in flight as the trim piece itself
The side panel trim plate was re-installed with 10-32 screws securing the ram mount (photo # 1040553).

I have completed a couple of flights after the installation and find it easy to use, read and realtively free of vibration. Cost of the RAM Mount - about 40.00, other material about 15.00. Not a bad solution for limited panel space...
