The International Cessna^® 170 Association

I am considering refinishing my '54 170B but am undecided if I should retain the polished metal and stripes (which I love, but hate to polish) or paint the entire aircraft. Since I operate on floats with the C145, weight is a big consideration. Does anyone know what paint adds to the aircraft weight? My prospective paint shop is going to paint some control surfaces this week and will weigh the surfaces before and after. If anyone knows the surface area of the aircraft, I could calculate the estimated weight increase. I know it's going to be heavier but how much?

The commercial specification sheet for a '54 Cessna 170B states that the standard scheme adds 12 lbs. (if that info helps)

Any idea what the standard scheme was? Probably stripes on bare metal, I suspect. My airplane is shown on page iv of the Cessna 170 Book (4th edition). This may be the standard scheme as I have seen it on other 170s.
