Hey Everybody,

I just bought my 170B yesterday, N3JX.

With its Turbo Continental IO-360A I can scoot along at 150Kts at altitude, Climb at 1400fpm, decend at 1500fpm, and stay up for almost 5 hours.
Other mods it came with are 180 Gear with P.Ponk boxes, 175 Wings, Javelin Tank, Factory float kit and 172XP style panel.

Does anybody know where I can get a canopy cover?

N3JX is experimental/exhibition/proof of concept.

Flying it from Columbus Oh to Philadelphia it did burn 42 gallons of fuel. At low altitude its really really slow but as soon as I put the turbo on it picks up.

Is it turbo-normalized? Is it a RayJay type? Tell us about it.

Its turbo normalized. The airplane is built in this way: 170B door back, 175 door up, 172XP door forward, with a Turbo Skymaster engine under the cowling.

Here is what I know:

The builder of the aircraft was Johnny Williams out of San Angelo Tx. He owns an aircraft salvage operation. The purpose of N3JX was to build the Ultimate 170B. From what I see he succeeded. The airplane has its quirks, like needing rudder trim (yes it has it) to be set before take off along with requiring extensive trimming while in flight due to all the weight on the nose. But it is nice to come in with full flaps at 40kts over the fence.

I thought I was losing it, the front end is definitely 172xp, nice splice. Got a close-up of the trim system at the tail end. What's the fuel burn in level flight? Nice plane. Only the guy who's the first to go turbo prop will beat this mod monster.

So tell us about your operating limitations pertaining to the aircraft being experimental/exhibition/proof of concept?

I'd like to see some panel and engine compartment shots - if you have them. Great looking bird.

Fuel burn is between 12.7 to 14.2gph mattering if the turbo is off or on.

Being experimental/exhibition I do have limitations:
If I am to attend an airshow, I have to fax a letter to the FAA once a year.
I can fly it 300 miles from my home base with no notification.
If I am to do a cross country of more than 300, I fax the FSDO a minimum of a day before hand of mine, and the one I will be landing in.
I can use the airplane for TV, film, and radio productions.
Every year it has to have a condition inspection.

I will be getting more pictures soon.
