Hey Guys;
I'm about to get the tanks back in and need door catch brackets for both sides. Any good ideas where to get some. Parts Catalog Figure 2-51/7-49 Part Number 0523004-6/0523004-5. Also, there was quite a bit of dust/chaff on the base of the "tank compartment". I was going to zinc chromate the compartment. I've cleaned thoroughly and it is ready for paint. Any additional pearls or suggestions? Sure do enjoy The Hanger. Thanks for any suggestions.
Sincerely
Mike Schwab

J&C Enterprises in Oklahoma has the -5 in stock, new surplus condition. 580 661-3591
You might try Airsalvage of Dallas 800-336-6399, speak to Lucky for the -6 or both
On priming the tank bays, I really prefer an epoxy primer. Sherwin Williams Aerospace Coatings PN# CMO483675 is a good fast dry 2 part epoxy primer, or any brand that meets MIL-P-23377. It'll stand up to chemicals including fuel and offer better corrosion protection than rattle can zinc chromate or the newer replacements for zinc based products. However, any measure of protection is better than nothing and rattle can zinc or any automotive self etching primer for aluminum is acceptable.
Inspect your spars, especially the cap angle for innergranular corrosion. Of course innergranular corrosion is not evident until it has progressed to the point of a bulge or exfoliation appearance. I've been finding this a lot lately, especially at or near where the cap intersects the outboard fuel bay rib, both inboard and outboard of where this rib meets the spar. Good time to look closely.

Mike,
I bought a set of brackets from one of our members. There is a post from 2005 on this board regarding the SkyCatch. It's a modified bracket with a small ball attached to the end that goes into the door. Mounted in the door is a tennerman plate. I've been very pleased with it.
The person is Johnny Williams, ph 325-944-8558 and I believe he was in SanAngelo, Tx.

John;
Thanks for the info. I called and got an answering machine. It is still the phone number. I have 6 06 8 tinnermans for the door catch. Will they fit the catch you described?
Sincerely

The Tinnermans will be accomodated by the Hatch-Latch, according to Johnny Williams.
