Need a retractable 170/140 landing light. Need it badly. Only thing stopping us from getting an annual done. Ours is in bad shape.
Thanx

I have a retractable landing light off of a 1948. I have pulled the cover off and everything looks good but i don't know how to check if it is good or not.
Give me a call and maybe I can assist you.

If a fellow was to sell or buy a Grimes landing light that is in working order what would be a dollar value for that particular item.
I am sure someone can tell me what they have bought or sold one for recently.
thanks as bunch

Seems to me all you should have to do is to apply 12 Volts, with proper polarity, to the assembly and see if it extends and iluminates. If my memory is correct, switching simply reverses the polarity to retract the light.
Probably the most practical thing to do would be to install a set of leading edge lights as in the later models via an FAA form337. Perhape the TIC170A has a sample 337 for that mod. Those retractable landing lights have become quite expensive.
