My friend is intalling a starter adapter on his newly rebuilt engine 0300-d. We cleaned, inspected it( core), and insalled the new bearings and seals from the rebuild kit. Its ready to go back together. Any advice for installing the the shaft and spring back into the adapter body? I heard it can be a pain the get the spring to seat properly( though it came out easily) is this true and is there anything we should watch for ?
Thanks, Rob

Whether or not you utilize them for starter adaptor work.... these folks are a good resource for info. Here's their advice on the angle-start adaptor installation. (Critical Warning: Be CERTAIN that your starter is free to turn with FINGERS ONLY ... BOTH DIRECTIONS....before installation. Lightweight, permanent magnet starters are NOT recommended for angle-drive starter adaptors due to their gears which do not allow the starter to disengage in a kick-back situation.):

Gahorn ,once again, thanks for your help.
I hope I reach a point where I can offer advice to questions here, to partly pay for all the help I am getting.
Thanks, Rob
