(This thread was split from: Doors-off STC for 170A in the MX Library)

Timely subject Trevor. I'm getting ready to try some video work out of my 170 with the gyro-stabilized gimbal mount that I designed and built. I built them primarily for helicopters, but I think it will work fine in the 170 with the passenger seat removed and the operator in the back seat. I'll let you know how it goes...

Ev Cassagneres (CT) has extensively used his 170 for aerial photo work with one door removed. (I talked to him this last week about an unrelated matter and I suggested he had a twin-brother, bluEldr, who also doesn't give a flying - &^% what the fuzz thinks about it. He's in his 80's and flys single-pilot, camera in one hand, with one door off, low-level snapping pics over Long Island sound. He told ATC the other day he'd need to go out over the water a bit further to reload his film before he could finish his 300' AGL photo-shoot of local churches. ATC said, "WHaa --aaat?"

Dick, you guys really should meet. :P

Well, for the sake of not incriminating myself 8) I have flown "a" 170 with both doors off for photo and movie work, and it flies much nicer than with just one removed. So what I'm looking for I suppose would be some sort of certification for flying with both doors removed.

Thanks for the info everyone, keep it coming!
