New Throttle Cable

I ordered a new Friction Throttle from Spruce, part number 05-13800. The throttle cable currently installed has two steel sleeves on the cable casing, one where the cable passes through the firewall and one where the cable is clamped just prior to the carburetor. I did not realize that the Spruce cables were available with these sleeves and consequently the new cable was received without either of these sleeves. Is it acceptable to install the new cable without these steel sleeves or should I return the cable to Spruce and have these sleeves installed. Thanks.

Bruce

The control cables are not required to have the sleeves. If you can install them securely without crushing the housing they will be fine. Cushioned Adel clamps usually work just fine.
