Landing Gear question

Post by Jimmy M. »

Hi folks,
How does L-19 gear compare to 170 or early 180 gear??
I'm looking at ski flying this winter and don't have gear yet, there seems to be a few
sets of L-19 gear legs available.
Thanks once again for any help......................Jim

The L-19 used a completely different set of drawing numbers than the 180/185 series, strongly indicating they are not the same. Sorry not to have the specific data on them.

Made of titanium, yes, but only if you can determine the present location of the stock belonging to the former XP Mods

From what I have heard, that maybe as hard to do as buying a new pair from Cessna! :)

I seem to remember hearing that the Titanium gear legs were priced at about $6000.

I have a pair of Axle forward C-180 legs, p/n 0741001-3 & -4, that I'd sell for $2200 that will do the same thing.

As I remember the price you only get one leg for $6,000. Most of us would have trouble landing with that.

L-19 gear and C-170B "Lady Leg" gear
L-19 gear and C-170B "Lady Leg" gear
The gear looks very similar except for the length.

No, George, I didn't. I have a lot of stuff that never entered my mind as having value (cause after all, I might need it someday????, and thus, never considered selling). So, I haven't paid much attention until recently, and I have not identified these gear legs because of this reason. I'll check them in the morning at my "other home" :D. (The Hangar)
