Hi there,
I'm located in france and restoring a 170 for a friend of mine....we have 3 cessna 170's in france that's all !!

I dismantled the stabilizer this afternoon and found out that the angle -stabilizer attachment (PN 0512108-5) was badly corroded....you see it is riveted by two rows of 5 rivets each to the end of the fuselage and it supports the stabilizer with 4 bolts in the rear part and 2 in the front part....

that part is dead....and i don't think it still exist in parts stores....what can we do ??

Does someone got an idea to help a bloody frog ?

Thanks ....

regards
laurent

I would check the salvage yards. You can always take the part to a machine shop and have them make you an identical one.

For the C-170 restoration project in France--- First of all, you should get a C-170 parts manual so that you can give a part number so there will be no errors. They are available on CD ROM from McCurtain Technology in Arizona. I think they run an advertisement in Trade-A-Plane. There are a great many salvage yaqrds in the US, and almost all of them can be reached by Email. Trade-A-Plane lists most of them.

Laurent, You should be able to locate L-19 parts sources in Europe without difficulty. (French Air Force used them as well as many others.) That part is identical with regard to the two aircraft, although the actual part number might vary.
Good luck.
