Here's a short article to remind us of upcoming winter weather and how we need to remember muffler inspections.

Good article, thanks George. Clearly inspections are the ounce of prevention. But inquiring minds want to know! What do you all like to use for carbon monoxide detection? I've flown for years with the "dead stop" variety of cardboard disposable detectors, but have heard some people poo poo them as junk. I have a friend who velcros the kind you buy at home depot to the floor of his Navion (I don't know how effective that really is!). Finally, I know of the expensive ones available for airplane use.

I guess I'm trying to determine if its worth it to buy a purpose-built unit, or stick with the el-cheapo. We pilots are generally regarded as cheapskates, but we generally shell out when it really matters. Your thoughts, folks?
