In Burbank, Ca is an FAA approved shop named Peen Rite. I don't have the number. Hope this helps.
I just reinstalled my gearlegs today after having them rearched and magnafluxed. Then I find out that they are shot peened. I wished I knew it before! I would have had them done.

Paul, who re-arched & magnafluxed your gear legs? What was the price? And what gear legs are they--early 170,late 170 (lady-legs),180,or ??
I have 180 legs on my ragwing, installed by a previous owner, but I think maybe most of us that do the gear leg "upgrade" might be just as well served by re-arching the stock 170 gear.

Thanks for the numbers, I'l call tomorrow.

The stock 170 gear legs are made of a different steel than the 180 gear legs. I think it is a 4000 series and I talked to someone a long time ago about re-arching them and it doesn;t work. They were manufactured flat, no arch . If you try to arch them, they will go back flat. At any rate, you would be modifing Cessna's original design and i think you would have a hard time finding a shop to do this. Lets just suppose a shop did rearch them , and you go flying and they break. NOW what? The shop used un-approved repair procedures and all kinds of nasty things follow.
I looked into to because I thought the same thing like you.
Get 180 legs, have them bead blasted and inspected by someone who knows gear legs, repair and dents, corrosion etc, have them reshot-peened, and then x-rayd to make sure there are no cracks and htat the depth of the shot-peening is correct.Paint and install, go fly
