Arn't these the replacement for the Orignal Fuel Gauges?

they look like they might be but I don't know about the adjustable float claim. There was a guy in CA that had been selling some NOS on ebay that were exactly right. I got a pair (he sold them in pairs) for $80. They came in a cardboard box with all the right part numbers and were made in the 50s' but worked great. I needed to make new gaskets though. He might have run out of them as I've not seen any for a couple of months. I must have seen five or more sets of his sell. It was kinda neat.

The gauges looked pretty nice.Minimum bid of $20,if the bidding didn't get out of hand they might be a good buy. Sounds like you made a good deal at $80 for a pair,Dave.
I wonder if by "adjustable float" they're referring to adjusting the float by bending the wire?
What are the floats made of? They look black in the photo,maybe that's a rubbery coating over cork?

Do you know for a fact the new ones are exactly the same as the originals? Just wondering.

The originals were made by Scott. The new ones are made by Rochester. They appear identical. (It's what is installed in my 53 B-model.) The Rochester model number is: 7083. The guage is 7083-5H76. The dial is:5-00894. Rochester Guages, PH# 214/241-2161 or 800/982-0030 are the last contacts I had.
Interesting Trivia: The "no take off" zone is not an aircraft limitation. It's a recommendation. It is not a required placard either. (Look at the TCDS. It's not mentioned anywhere.)

There are several articles about replacing the floats in The 170 Book, one is especially useful written by Steve Grimsley.
Spruce and Wag Aero both handle the complete gauges.
