Need a source for the special tools needed to torque the cylinder base bolts on my 0-300D cont. Looks like snap on has discontinued them and I don't have a Mac rep living here or near, plus their on line cat. is a joke.
Any ideas besides e-bay.

ATS sells Cylinder wrenches.

Just found them on Aircraft Spruce. Looks like a low priced and higher priced... Any thoughts on the value??

I've always considered cylinder base wrenches as sort of disposable - you'll probably have to grind some on them to get them to work in certain situations, and you need to really keep them straight when using them or they'll slip and booger up the wrenching flats. They aren't "lifetime" tools, but for occasional use a normal set will work for you fine. I have quite an assortment ground different ways to fit when I needed them, I just sort through them until I find the right ones for that day.

as far as prices on tools - generally you get what you pay for, and aggravation comes from saving too much money.

Agreed. I have tried many of these from several sources and with the O200/O300 cylinders you will most likely have to grind the outer radius to be able to fit between the cylinder base nut and the cylinder barrel.

You always have to grind them...the metal used to make the tools is poor. they will always crack at a low point. I have gone as far as to cut off a Craftsman box end and weld to the shank. Grind to fit, and wala! a new, good wrench.
